Wednesday’s West CEO speakers were Julie Jacobs, CEO Board Member, and Elaine Hand, business owner and fitness leader. Together they walked students through a variety of exercises to test their listening skills, problem-solving, and leadership. For example, in the first picture, why are all the sheets of paper different if they all heard the same instructions? Debriefing on the activities meant students needed to self-reflect, take into account their DISC results, and ask themselves questions. What they do when they are frustrated, not the leader, or there is urgency to a situation? Additionally, Julie talked about the role of serving on a board, such as understanding their mission and believing in it and the willingness to give of one’s time.
