When I began the Belleville CEO program this school year, I didn’t fully understand the impact it would have on me as both a student and an individual over the span of this school year. At first, I felt uncomfortable stepping outside of my comfort zone, but over time I’ve developed the confidence to face challenges head-on and how to pivot from them. This program has pushed me to grow in ways a traditional classroom never could.
One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is the importance of effective communication especially when collaborating together as a group. During our class business, I realized how essential it is to ensure everyone is on the same page while also listening to and valuing each person’s ideas. I also had the opportunity to use connections I had with local entrepreneurs to help secure a location for Belleville’s Got Talent. This experience strengthened my confidence and taught me how to communicate professionally in order to build and maintain meaningful relationships within the Belleville area.
Additionally, Belleville CEO has helped me become more adaptable and better at thinking on my feet when faced with challenges. For example, when our original plan to use the theater at Love Church fell through, I quickly communicated the issue and offered alternative ideas. Despite the unexpected change, we successfully adjusted and hosted a well-attended event for Belleville’s Got Talent. This experience showed me the importance of staying calm and solution-focused in challenging situations.
Overall, the Belleville CEO program has helped me grow in confidence, communication, and adaptability. It has brought me out of my shell and given me the skills to handle challenges, collaborate with others, and take initiative going forward. These experiences have prepared me to pursue future opportunities with a stronger sense of confidence and leadership.
